Privacy

InstantIP is built privacy-first. This page documents exactly what the site does — and doesn’t do — with your data.

No cookies, no accounts

InstantIP sets no cookies and requires no account. The only thing stored in your browser is your dark/light theme preference (in localStorage, never transmitted). All analysis you see — the privacy risk score, hardware fingerprint, leak checks — runs locally in your browser and is never uploaded anywhere.

Analytics

We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It uses no cookies, stores no personal data, and collects only aggregate page-view counts. There is no cross-site tracking and nothing to opt out of at an individual level, because individuals are never identified.

Network requests the site makes

  • On the home page: your browser contacts one IP lookup API (ipapi.co, falling back to ipwho.is, then api.ipify.org) to display your public IP and geolocation. Country flags load from flagcdn.com and fonts from Google Fonts.
  • Only when you opt in: the connectivity monitor pings the endpoint you select (Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, or Amazon); the DNS leak test queries one IP lookup API; and the IPv6 test contacts ipify.org over IPv4 and IPv6. None of these run automatically.

What we never do

  • No advertising or cross-site trackers.
  • No sale or sharing of data — we hold no user data to sell.
  • No transmission of your data to AI providers.
  • No server-side logging of your lookups — the site is a static app served from a CDN.
